Entice hackerspace HeatSync Labs to set up their new shop in Tempe.
HeatSync Labs, a local hackerspace and technology incubator, is outgrowing their space in Chandler and looking for a new home. We should encourage them to bring their brilliance and innovation to Tempe. The group attracts creative minds from all over the valley, and helps bring amazing concepts into reality.

We need more restaurants on the lake--some nice date places
We need more nice restaurants and coffee shops around the lake and on the water.

We have met with the Tempe Police department frequently in order to curb aggressive panhandling. They have assured us that they are on top of it!

Get Whole Foods or Fresh and Easy to come to Mill
We need a grocery store for all the new urban dwellers to shop at.

We are working on recruiting a market, but without enough residents living in the downtown area, it can be hard…

Open La Grande Orange or Chelseas Kitchen on Mill
We need more local gourmet restaurants and less chain restaurants

More destination stores like H&M, Apple Store, Anthropology
Urban Outfitters is great, but if you want Mill to be a shopping district, you're going to need a few more stores

Since Downtown Tempe is going through a transition period, we are taking it as an opportunity to attract more destination shops and restaurants. We want to encourage strong independent retailers to open up shop on Mill Avenue!

bird and bird crap removal
The birds on Mill are horrible... I think everybody agrees... and they bring lots of crap. Move the birds and the crap will follow :)

We had done a removal in December and they came back. We use a wonderful, humane process to drive them away and after many many more times, they will slowely be “trained” to not return. That is the update on that.

We Need Recycling on Mill
My friend was at Caffe Boa recently and noticed that they're saving their wine bottles for people to decorate to show how many bottles they go through and why having recycling on Mill is so important. I didn't even know that there was no way for the bars/restaurants to recycle and that seems pretty important. It'd also be nice to have some recycling bins next to the trash cans on the street for plastic bottles and paper.

We do feel this is a very important issue and have started researching ways to put recycling on Mill Avenue and the adjoining streets of Downtown Tempe.

Replace the Mad Cap with an AMC or Cinemark to get the Underclassmen of ASU to go back to Mill Ave.
Mill Ave. is losing it's ASU ties to Tempe Marketplace. One of the most popular things to do in Arizona and on Mill Ave. before Harkins moved, was to go have lunch or dinner on Mill Ave., and then go see a new blockbuster movie. So now that Mill Ave. no longer has a Real Movie Theater, I don't think it has any day attractions for 20 and under aged people like Tempe Marketplace has with Dave & Busters, a Real Harkins Movie Theater(which moved to Tempe Marketplace from Mill Ave to make more money, can't blame them for that,… more

Anything but a dirt lot
The empty dirt lot on Mill/7th St has been exactly and only that since at least 2002. I think its owned by ASU. Put something there. An bike rental/storage place, statue of Yoda, miniature replica of the Grand Canyon, public art, water fountain, retail space, solar power station, flower garden--anything but just dirt and rocks.

In the future plans of Downtown Tempe, there will be a “Farmers Arts District” which will house artist lofts and galleries for the public to visit.

Retail recruitment is a major objective of ours – especially unique, independent businesses that make Downtown Tempe a destination!

Improve parking and traffic flow
I love mill ave and I know it is a lot harder than it sounds, but the real reason I avoid it almost 100% of the time if I am not having to come to work is because there are not enough free parking options and at certain times of the day the streets are backed up.

More bike racks, bicycle friendly businesses / buildings.
Mill Ave needs more bike racks, it also needs a bicycle friendly business program whereby bicyclists are given small discounts or specials.

it is called mill avenue.... why not actually integrate the old mill into a fun restaurant or bar?
I worked for Redbull a few years back and when flugtag was in town they were trying to obtain city permission to have their afterparty at the mill and turn it into a big party spot for the night. Why not turn it into a restaurant and actually call attention to the history of the street? That would also help open up the north end of Mill Ave and expand the business opportunity a bit further than the 5th street area. Integrating the mill and tempe beach park more would help generate revenue and more attendance to N. mill!

lets move ZIA to Mill! Mill needs a cool music store
There's lots of cool restaurants, but I think cool used CD exchange would be awesome.

More bars and independent business, but with college students in mind. No high-end shopping!
I think Mill Avenue district should stay true to its roots and make sure to cater to students. Fewer high end restaurants and bars, and more places for students to frequent. This will also bring back the "cool" vibe that Mill has lost. Cool music venues would help! Fewer corporate buildings.

Bring Back Bandersnatch
Downtown Tempe needs new restaurants like the old Bandersnatch where you have a good selection of appetizers, sandwiches, soups and salads for a reasonable price. There's no place on Mill now that's economical to eat lunch out every day except Jack in the Box.
